FAQ

Q: Did I get it right, you mean 6.30 in the MORNING?
A: Yes, we meet every Tuesday at 6.30 in the morning.

Q: Why do you meet so early in the morning?
A: We meet once a week. This time is very convenient and it meets the needs of many people's schedule. Plus, you get your day going after Toastmaster. This is also a good way to train yourself to be coherent when you are half asleep. If you can give a speech at 6.30 in the morning, you will not have problem giving speech anytime under any physical and mental condition.

Q: Your meeting ends at 7.45 a.m., will I be able to get to work on time at 8 a.m.?
A: Our official time is 6.30 a.m. to 7.45 a.m.. However, our meeting usually ends at 7.30 a.m. With the traffic condition in Lubbock, you can get anywhere within 20 minutes. If some day you need to leave early, you can always inform the Toastmaster before the meeting and take off whenever you need to.

Q: Who can join your club? If this exclusively for UMC personnel only?
A: Anyone can join our club. Our club is open to anybody, not just UMC personnel. It just happened that we meet in UMC facility.

Q: I have hospital phobia. Can you meet in other place?
A: We meet in the Executive Conference Center in UMC. It is in the hospital, but not exactly in the hospital where you will see any hospital equipment or anything that will remind you of a hospital. Be rest assure that you will not have problem attending our meeting.

Q: What is the dress code for the weekly meeting?
A: There is no particular dress code for the meeting. Anything that you are comfortable to give a speech in will be fine. You can be formal, casual or even come in you pyjamas if you like.

Q: If I am interested, how can I join?
A: Just come to one of our meeting, be our guest. If you are sure that Toastmasters is something for you, we will provide you the membership form. All we need is the completed form and a check. We will schedule you to give your ice-breaker speech whenever you are comfortable.
